Fields around Bruder Klaus Chapel

Fields around Bruder Klaus Chapel is the first work in my series Abstract Sculpture Paintings. During my internship with glass artist Geir Nustad, I learned the technique of stacking colored glass rods to create sharp separations between colors. The process, however, was extremely time-consuming, which led me to search for a faster approach. This exploration became the foundation of my own system: stacking and fusing flat glass plates into layered color patterns that could then be transformed through glassblowing.

The inspiration for this work came from a visit to Peter Zumthor’s Bruder Klaus Chapel in the Eifel landscape. The contrast between the golden fields and the layered concrete structure of the chapel became the starting point for this translation.

The horizontal lines in the glass reflect the layers of the landscape, while the transparent blue, yellow, and green colors represent the sky, fields, and surrounding nature.
