Winter in the Wester Forest

This work is part of my collection System and Series “Abstract Sculpture Paintings and evokes, as its title suggests, a winter landscape. It emerged during my master’s studies at the Institute for Ceramic and Glass Art in Höhr-Grenzhausen, at the very onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a time of many transitions: studying abroad, immersing myself in glass, navigating solitude, and moving from the lively city of Nijmegen to a village of fewer than ten thousand souls. To ground myself, I spent long hours cycling and walking through the surrounding landscapes. Along the way, I captured fleeting impressions with my camera; one of those quiet moments finds its form in this work.
